Install guide

How to install PhotoCraft

Windows. Run the .msi and follow the installer, or unzip the portable build anywhere and start photocraft.exe.

macOS. Open the DMG and drag PhotoCraft to Applications. For the command-line tool, unzip it and run spctl --assess --type install -vv photocraft-cli to confirm the notarization.

Linux. Make the AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it; the first run adds a launcher icon. On Wayland, dragging files onto the window is not supported yet; use File › Open or paste with Ctrl+V.

From source. PhotoCraft is a Rust workspace. With a Rust toolchain installed, run:

git clone https://github.com/storytold/photocraft
cd photocraft
cargo run --release -p photocraft -- image.psd

FAQ

PhotoCraft download FAQ

Is the PhotoCraft download safe?

Every button on this page links straight to the official release on github.com/storytold/photocraft; nothing is re-hosted or modified. Windows installers are code-signed, the macOS app is signed and notarized, and SHA256SUMS.txt lists a checksum for every file so you can verify what you downloaded.

Which PhotoCraft file should I download?

Windows: photocraft-<version>-windows-x64.msi. Mac: photocraft-<version>-macos-universal.dmg. Linux: the x86_64 AppImage, or the deb/rpm for your distribution. ARM computers use the arm64 or aarch64 files.

How do I install the PhotoCraft Flatpak?

Run flatpak install --user photocraft-<version>-linux-x86_64.flatpak, then flatpak run ai.storyteller.photocraft. The bundle needs the freedesktop runtime from Flathub, which flatpak offers to install with it.

Can I use PhotoCraft without installing it?

Yes. Use the PhotoCraft online editor on this site, or the Windows portable zip and the Linux AppImage, which run without installation.
